The Homeless Women and Children Program ( HWCP) is designed to assist families move their families toward permanent housing and life long stability.

Homeless CalWORKs  families may be  eligible for our program if an adult on the CalWORKs case is (1) Receiving or has exhausted the time limit for CalWORKs cash assistance and (2) Are employed or enrolled in the Greater Avenues for Independence (GAIN) Program. Contact GAIN at your local DPSS office to open a GAIN component
To find out if you are eligible for the program you can call or walk into HOP Drop in Center for an interview and eligibility check. You will be notified of your acceptance into the program usually within 24-48 hours.

HWCP works with several community base housing providers to house our program participants. All of our houses are decent, clean and safe environments for families and are completely free of charge and are located throughout South L.A.

Working the program
The goal of HWCP is to help families move toward independent living and long term stability. Participants are expected to actively participate in that process by: Attending all HWCP & DPSS case management sessions - Attending GAIN Job Club - Obtaining employment - Searching for housing and housing resources - Saving Money. HWCP case managers assist  you set short and long tern goals, link you to appropriate resources and  help remove the barriers to your success. 

Resources Available

As a HWCP Participant, you have access to resources at HOP ICS including; mental health services, drug and alcohol treatment , money management classes,  benefits assistance and housing placement assistance.
